Tumbling Blocks Quilt Top Done

I was working on this all day yesterday to finish up the quilt top. Instead of stacking the alternate block on top of one another. I just added a little twist by adding sashing to one of the end blocks in each row to create this tumbling block effect. I really love how the quilt top came together. Now have to decide whether I need to add some white border or skip it.

Decisions..Decisions..Decisions???
What would you suggestion? Please leave a comment.

  1. I like the twist you added and I really like it without a border. I might even do a scrappy binding.

    1. I have never done a scrappy binding. It sounds fun but for some reason scared of it.
      Should give that a try.

  2. I would add a small strip a the top and bottom to balance the one on the sides, but I tend to be overly symmetrical.

    1. Hi Gretchen,
That sounds like a great idea. I totally agree with you on the symmetry.

      Thank you!

  3. Isn't it wonderful how such a small change can create a really different feel to the top. I wouldn't add any borders, but I do like Jen's idea of the scrappy binding :)

  4. Great design! A bit of extra white might add to the illusion of the tumbling blocks but it would still look finished and self contained without it.

    1. Thank you, MC! It was fun to figure that out :-).
I might just add a white strip to the top and bottom and leave the sides as is.

  5. It's fabulous as it is but some white borders would give you more space for some of your amazing FMQ;-) I LOVE the colors, so sweet!!!

  6. Love the variation you achieved! I don't think I would add a border. The idea of a scrappy binding is a good one. The strip could be made up of various lengths/pieces of fabrics.....very random. Whatever you choose, I am sure it will be great!!! Hugs, Doreen
