Quilting with Kids - W.I.P. Wednesdays

For a while I have been trying to get my daughter into sewing. This is an on and off project. Sometimes we do lot of stuff together and then it stalls. She does love to go fabric shopping with me and spends as much as I do ;).

I wanted to get her involved in as many steps as possible. So,we printed out 4" alphabets of her name and then some circles and heart. She decide to go with smiley face using this. Check this out:


This is a super simple quilt with some applique and charm square border. The design idea except the border was my 5 year old daughters and I put it together for her. 

This is a great project for us together. Keeping things really simple and letting your guard really helps to introduce the little ones to sewing/quilting.

    That is a great idea and very well executed, I must say. Brings to mind the days I spent with my grand daughter doing various crafts. So important (especially if it/they aren't the things the 'Mom' has for hobbies. A great opportunity for "special time"....hugs, Doreen

      Thank you, Doreen! Its so true!
      I learned from Mom/big sis when I was 5 or 6 years old making dolls clothes. So, this was special for me teaching my daughter. We had a blast :-).

Avant Garde Blog Tour - Arrows Baby Quilt

I am super excited to be part of the talented makers in Katarina Roccella's blog tour. Thank you, Nina for letting me participate in this wonderful blog tour. Avant Garde fabric is just mind blowing. When I first saw the pics at Art Gallery website , I was totally in love. When I recieved the fabrics they looked awesome in person and then finally when I started making my quilts. I am truly amazing to see how versatile Avant Garde fabrics are. These two are my most favorite blocks, the Panda is loaned from my 4 year old son ;). He is a cutie and insisted that I use his Panda for posing :D The arrows in the blocks were made from same two fabrics, but the the look is totally different. Think Ruffles Day1 - Kona White Ruffled pillow

I welcome you all to Day1 of Think Ruffles blog hop organized by amazing Mdm Sam @ SewWeQuilt and our amazing cheer leader Amy @ SewIncrediblyCrazy blog. I wanted to thank both Mdm Sam and Amy for this wonderful blog hop. Now peak at my project, a ruffled pillow with zipper. I have been wanting to make ruffles for a while and had one particular pillow in mind, V & Co's white ruffle pillow . I made mine with white Kona Cotton. The strips for the ruffles are 1.5inches. The finished pillow cover is 12"x18". Kona Honey Buns - 1.5inch strips My Little Quilty Model Oh..Ruffles...Ruffles... This time around I even got to add a zipper. Yay for me!
