Fun Play Date with Janis - Sun printing

Yesterday my little Kavin and I spent the afternoon with amazing friend Janis . She does amazing art quilts and free motion quilting. The best part is she makes her own prints too.  How cool is that? Check out her blog Turtle Moon Impressions.

Hema and Janis

She offered me to come play with her Sun printing techniques. It was really wonderful and I am totally hooked. Thank you so much Janis.

Here are couple of our Sun-printing in progress:

Our sun prints are drying in the clothesline. Janis had washed them in a special detergent.

Finally taking a break after all that printing. Do you see the tent, that's where the prep work happens. Janis has an amazing setup there with everything needed for printing.

Janis was explaining something to me, while was checking out newly acquired Thomas Train :).
Thank you Janis and Bill. He is absolutely thrilled about it.

While we were experimenting with Sun prints, Kavin kept himself occupied looking for and chasing Janis's cat Tutu. He also got to play with lots of Cars and of course the Thomas Train. For more pics check out Janis's post.

Thank you Janis for having us over. We both had such a wonderful time and weather was awesome too.
A beginning of new obsession :)

New fabrics

I have been thinking of ordering some new fabrics and would love your input. I love  these two fabric collections, Lotus Pond from Cloud9Fabrics and Indelible from Art Gallery Fabrics.

Lotus Pond by Rae Hoekstra(Rae of Made by Rae)

Art Gallery Fabrics

Wow, this is a really tough one. So many good fabric collections. My current favorite is "Indelible" by Katarina Roccelle . Not sure if everyone else like this collection as much as I do. The colors are just vibrant and you can't go wrong with art gallery fabrics.
I have seen the quilts/pillows made of this collection  and they look fabulous.
What are you other favorites from Art Gallery Fabrics?

Fabric de-stash

Over the past 3 years I have accumulated lots of fabric and I need to de-stash some to make room for new fabrics. This is really hard for me since, I don't think I have any fabrics in my stash which I don't like. Actually, I kind of have a pattern or an idea for quilt for all of them ;). This is what I do full time ....lol.
Today I will be de-stashing this wonderful orange Serenade FQ bundle by  Moda on  instagram (my de-stash account) at 1pm EST:

I think the "Fire Drill" quilt pattern from Modern Patchwork book by Elizabeth Hartman would look great with these fabrics.

On a different note, did you check out "Sew Mama Sew" blog yesterday, "Quilt Trends With Debbie"? My Color Splash quilt was listed in the "Slice and Insert" technique. That was cool :).

What fabrics are you dreaming of for this summer projects?
