FMQ Friday with Leah Day - Rolling Tires FMQ

Image
This week I quilted the "Rolling Tires" FMQ design on the inner border for the Disney Cars Quilt I showed last week. This was such a fun design and I have been thinking about coming up with this FMQ design for quite some time. I really like how it turned out. I actually marked the tires freehand before quilting them. I didn't really follow every single marking, but this was helpful to keep me on track. I am finally getting close to finishing up the Disney Cars Quilt. I quilted the outermost border with flame stitch and the texture it creates is wonderful. Flames - FMQ Flames FMQ Closeup Disney Cars Now linking up with Leah Day's FMQ Friday. Happy Quilting! Malini!

Tumbling Blocks on Long Arm - WIP Wednesday

Image
This is my second attempt quilting on a long arm machine. I just love it how fast we can get the quilting done. But definitely there is learning curve for free motion quilting on Long Arm. My FMQ skills on Home sewing machine(HSM) did come in handy though since if something didn't work, I went with the flow and changed my plans. This time I allocated 4 hours for quilting and went alone(last time I took my 18month old baby/toddler with me). Hmmm that should have given me ample time to finish this quilt(52x72 inches). But the setup alone took more than 2 hours and I got to quilt only for little over an 1 1/2. Looks like I was more productive going with the  baby than alone. Since, I am returning after 2months I totally forgot how to load the quilt and had to wait for help. Hopefully next time it should go faster. Actually the quilt looks much better in person than this picture. I will try to get more pictures once the quilt is completely done. I have to go back to finish this o

Actually I am get backing to one of my UFOs and projects to finish. I have to finish some more quilting and the binding. I am using a rather large print for the binding. It took lot of courage to make this a binding fabric. Have to see how it turns out: Also planning to work on hand applique this hexagons flower for my mini wall hanging which I started a while ago. I am planning to hand quilt this wall hanging. A long awaited todo list. Linking up to WIP Wednesday@ FreshlyPieced blog.

Dancing Stars Quilt Along - March Progress

Image
I am linking up to Amy's Creative side blog for my March progress. I am using the Peggy Martin's quick strip paper piecing method to make these blocks. It does seem to go faster but still the middle two rows for each block do take a long time with those tiny tiny triangles. I made a total of 13 finished blocks for March here are they laid out: I am still hoping to make a throw size quilt which need 86 more of these blocks. Happy Quilting! Malini
