W.I.P Wednesday - Improv blocks

I made good progress with my Shattered quilt from Jacquie Gering and Katie Pederson's book: Quilting Modern. I have been in love with this quilt pattern ever since I bought this book last year. My version is very colorful though.

This is going to be a shop sample for Liz @ Bits N Pieces quilt shop, in Pelham, NH using Andover fabrics textured solids(linens) and Simply Style Chevrons by V &Co.
I using Jacquie & Katie's "Slice and Insert" technique. It also helped to watch Jacquie's Craftsy class "Improvisational Piecing, Modern Design". She shows us in detail how to match those points after slicing and while inserting new strip.

Light blue

Dark blue
Sorry about the poor quality of pictures, I took them using my Samsung Note in a hurry and looks like they didn't focus well.

Just one more block to go. These linens are so wonderful to work with. I can hardly wait to finish the quilt top and get to the quilting part.

    Very cool blocks, I love the fractured look. Your slashed sections sections line up so nicely, I will check out this class.

      Thank you, MC! That was really the fun part, matching up those points as continuous line. Yes, definitely checked Jacquie's class. She also has other fun Improv techniques.

    I've been eyeing those textured solids for a while now. Good to know Liz carries them. I might just have to make a trip up there some time. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Quilt Along with Leah Day - week30

This week's design was my all time favorite. Its an easy design but people who don't FMQ think its so complicated ;). I really love the the texture on the quilt. Here are some of pictures of the Paisley FMQ on my Shades of Blue quilt: Paisley FMQ with Circles - you see on the first block I tried to mix paisley with circles Paisley FMQ Paisley FMQ The past week was really productive for me. Finally my sewing machine started behaving and the quilting went really smooth. I almost quilted away 3 blocks. Just 2 more blocks to quilt approximately. I can't wait to finish this quilt soon. I was in a flow this week with FMQ, but did have stop and work on my piecing my Groovy quilt and work on the UFO. Which is always good.
